Is seeing demo programs on the Mac or Firefox Important?

Please take a moment to fill out this 4 question survey on whether we should be demonstrating cross-platform and cross-browser capabilities in Silverlight.

Are you series guys? Do you even need to ask this question in this day and age? If Microsoft is losing share of the browser market and the desktop in general it has to be due to this kind of mindset.

And you are hearing this from an avid use of Microsoft products, a Microsoft alumni, and someone that developers 100% in a Microsoft environment. But to see that you are even wondering if you really should worry about cross-platform compatibility in today's environment is just shocking.

Don't agree. Silverlight has already proven itself to be cross platform and cross browser. Dont lengthen the videos by showing all possible platforms, its boring.

Jesse's not talking about cross platform compatibility in general. He's talking about doing demo's on multiple platforms.

As long as we know it works in the different browser I'm happy. Don't need to see your application in different browsers in the videoes. As party42 said, it's boring :)

Just show it in one, doesn't matter which one :)

Yup...as long as I know it's cross platform and cross browser, I'm happy. I'd even go so far as to say that I get annoyed if tutorials/vids are made in anything other than IE. It looks kind of "alien" and not so "comfy" ;)

I agree. Cross-platform/cross-browser capabilities in Silverlight is extremely important, but I don't need to see it in videos. Use the time for something more valuable.

Let me assure the first writer, before rumor spreads, that no one is questioning the need to be cross browser and cross platform, I was asking about including visuals of the various demonstrations running in different browsers and on different platforms.

That said, it does not have to lengthen the video; it can be that the demo is run on one platform and then the next demo is run on another.

Not a big deal, and there does seem to be some cnosensus in the survey that foks would like to see some continuing evidence that we're getting the look and feel right.

The idea about doing one video in FF3, one in IE7 etc. is great Jesse :)

It IS important, but I think it is important that you widen your protfolio to include Linux/Moonlight. I understand that Moonlight is not under Microsoft's control, but unless you can show it running in Linux, Silverlight is never going to be taken seriously as cross-anything. Don't get me wrong, I will never use Silverlight on Linux myself and I don't personally care if Moonlight never ships - but the users (and more importantly businesses) who today enjoy flash support accross platforms _including_ Linux will not want to adopt Silverlight if it means they have to lose any of compatibility.

Bottom line: I want you to show me Silverlight demos running on Linux/Moonlight. THEN I'll be in a position to tell my customers that there is no risk to adopting Silverlight over Flash.
