Silverlight 1.0 will not install on AMD Athlon 1700+ PC

Running XP Pro SP2 with IE7 and the install bombs everytime.
I see nothing on the System Requirements page about this. 
Is there a workaround?

Also, WHERE IS THE SEARCH for the forums?!?!
(Someone may have answered my question already, but without search how would I know?)
