With merged resource dictionaries, application resources can now be distributed among multiple files. Silverlight 3 provides the capability to then import those resources into a page so that a single resource can be used in multiple pages. In this video, Todd Miranda demonstrates how to use merged resource dictionaries.

Sorry, but this is a really long winded way of demonstrating a simple concept - First 8+ mins are creating a simple grid + controls, merged dictionaries not introduced until 12m30s. The whole concept could have been done in a few minutes. Also missing is description on how to use MergedDictionaries cross project.

I agree with cuperman007. It's a pretty waste of time to have to sit through a basic xaml tutorial to get to the merged resources at the end. In previous tutorials, the presenter just cut and pasted some UI elements to get ot the point faster rather than go through the lengthy task of creating the basic UI.
