About Josh Stodola

I started learning HTML at age 12 back when standards were non-existent and Microsoft FrontPage was the definition of sweetness. I was stubborn and stuck with plain Notepad and learned every single HTML tag, to this day I am very glad I made that decision. I began learning Javascript and CSS about a year later in an effort to give my sites some "magic". I kinda got away from programming there for a few years and decided to grow up.

I later took a VB6 class in high school and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The rest of the class used it as a nap hour, but I actually paid attention and was quite interested. I ended up researching VB a little in my spare time and I first learned about Microsoft's .NET framework (at the time, it was fairly new). It seemed so promising and easy to use, I knew this was what I was going to do for a living. After high school, I went to college for Computer Programming and learned Mainframe (COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and everything else anti-graphical), Advanced VB.NET, Advanced Java, XHTML/Javascript, JSP/Servlets. While learning JSPs and Servlets, I imagined how much easier ASP.NET had to be, and decided to look into it a little bit.

Towards the end of college, I taught myself ASP.NET with the aid of online articles, blogs, and forums. It was a very simple transition for me. I am currently employed at an insurance company, mainly working on ASP.NET web applications driven by SQL Server. My job is great, and I definitely enjoy working with Microsoft's promising technologies.

In my spare time, you might find me at the bar drinking beer and knocking opponents socks off on the pool table. If not there, I am likely staring at an LCD monitor programming my heart out. When I get some free time, I like to pwn noobs on the best multiplayer game ever: Counter-Strike Source (favorite map is cs_assault_old). I frequently played in college, and I still run my own server which has become quite popular over the years. I am also fairly interested in high-compression video encoding and DVD decryption.
